Degraded service: Sapling (North America)

» Published on Tue, 29 Apr 2025 13:36:00 +0000

  • Post-Mortem

RCA: On 28th April 2025, Kallidus engineers performed data correction for US-hosted customers to fix legacy inconsistencies, but this unexpectedly caused issues preventing some users from booking time off. After investigating the problem on 29th April, the team identified the cause and restored the system from a prior backup, placing it into maintenance mode briefly while recovery began. Manual data recovery spanned 15 days due to system usage conflicts, with all affected data fully restored by 14th May 2025.

To mitigate future risks, Kallidus will implement dry-run testing with peer review for multi-user data corrections, avoid bulk customer changes, and enhance rollback and recovery processes for faster issue resolution.

  • Update

04/29 20:25 BST: The planned maintenance mode and restore has now completed. Our engineers will now work to reapply recent changes as soon as possible. The work may take up to 48hours to fully complete. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

  • Update

04/29 20:10 BST: Due to an issue with Time Off policies, we will briefly have to interrupt normal service and put Sapling into Maintenance Mode whilst we address the problem.

We expect this to take approximately 30-45mins. The application will be enabled again once complete.

Unfortunately, in order to restore normal service we are restoring the system to a recent backup and our team will then reapply changes asap, although may take up to 48hours to fully reassemble.
