Degraded Service on Kallidus Reporting

    Summary of impact: Between 08:30 (GMT) and 09:45 (GMT) on 15 November 2019, interactive reporting services for the Kallidus LMS, Learn and Perform products were unavailable. Scheduled reporting was unaffected.

    Preliminary root cause: Kallidus engineers have determined that this was due to an issue with a memory leak in the Business Objects web application which impacted the Tomcat web application server.

    Mitigation: Upon becoming aware of the issue, engineers restarted the Tomcat web application server on the affected server and normal service resumed. Regular weekly restarts of the Tomcat web application server will take place each Thursday morning during the maintenance window (06:00-08:00).

    Next steps: Kallidus have been advised by SAP (the owners of Business Objects) that this issue has been resolved in a later version of the software (BI 4.2 SP7 patch 5) and so Kallidus will plan to upgrade to this version in the near future.
