Learn: Content Replacement Error

» View Event Details | Created Thu, 28 May 2026 10:28:00 +0000

Post-Mortem

From 11:33 BST on 27/05 until 09:30 BST on 29/05, Learn administrators were unable to replace content using the course import process. Uploading new content continued to operate normally; only content replacement was affected.

The issue was caused by missing permissions within an Azure storage container following the decommissioning of an older container on 27/05. During the investigation, a recent deployment was initially rolled back as a precautionary measure, however this did not resolve the issue as the root cause was related to storage permissions rather than a code change.

Once the missing permissions were identified, they were restored and content replacement functionality was confirmed as operational.

Although this was an isolated incident and is unlikely to recur, we have taken additional preventative action by introducing automated testing specifically for this scenario to complement the upload tests already in place.
