Post-Mortem
Summary of impact: From 18:52 BST on 25 September 2019, Kallidus Recruit sites were unavailable to a subset of customers. This situation will have started to improve from 21:13 BST on the same day for most customers.
Preliminary root cause: Engineers have determined that this was a name resolution issue, caused by the loss of DNS records for the domain 'kallidusrecruit.com' published by a third party service partner.
Mitigation: Upon becoming aware of the disruption, engineers raised a support ticket with the provider who initiated a refresh of the DNS records for kallidusrecruit.com. Because of the way in which DNS propagation takes place, DNS changes can take 24-48 hours to fully propagate across all DNS servers worldwide. As of 09:30 BST 27 September 2019, the situation is much improved and we believe all propogation is complete.
Next steps: Kallidus engineers have moved ownership for the kallidusrecruit.com DNS zone to it's Microsoft Azure platform to increase the resilience of the service.
